Massive Evacuation Solution (SEM) was developed to provide effective emergency communications when public communications networks become jammed during a disaster. With its energy self-sufficient receivers, Komutel SEM software enables emergency management staff to inform, alert or communicate over UHF radio frequency. Each party to be contacted owns a receiver with pre-recorded messages which can be launched from the SEM Server, or from a mobile SEM unit installed in a vehicle.
The SEM Receiver
The SEM receiver works like an automatic telephone answering machine. When receiving an encrypted code from the software, it broadcasts the corresponding message. If there is no acknowledgement, the receiver displays a flashing red light to notify that there is a message waiting. This receiver has an energy self-sufficiency of 72 hours and a repeater function, thanks to its MESH network technology. The receiver requires no wiring, which enables rapid deployment and represents a significant cost reduction.
Fixed & Mobile SEM Server Software
The SEM Server software works in two ways - from a computer and remotely. It can send encrypted messages to be decoded by the SEM receivers. During emergencies, vehicles can launch encrypted messages near receivers. It can also be used to check the operation of receivers and to edit the list of pre-encoded messages. Data is collected on the status of each message broadcast to provide incident post-mortem information to the organization.
